It is estimated that nearly 60% of little girls on the continent are forced to marry before the age of 13. Along with Africa the Middle East has the most lax laws on the issue, where the age limits are typically boys at ten years old and girls at seven. Sierra Leone is one of five African countries to have put in place a ban on child marriage.
